Ethel Lehmann, 87, who has played for 13 years says "I'll play until God tells me to stop." Lehmann was the first woman to join Kids & Kubs, as well as the first husband and wife duo to be a part of the league.

Gus Tijerino, 81, who has played for four years says he really enjoys the comradery and friendship in the league.

Larry McCurdy, 80, who has played for 1 year, said he has played baseball for 64 years and has a real love for the game.

Jon Reynolds, 79, who has played for 3 years, said he likes the competition and exercise. Reynolds also played in the 1/2 Century League before joining Kids & Kubs.

Jose Merceo, 86, who has played for 10 years, said it means a lot to him to play still be playing softball. Merceo's son, Orlando, used to play for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros.

Ed Asay, 79, who has played for 5 years, said "I love it and love the comradery. Asay has also been the secretary for the organization during his 5 years.

Helen Bell, 78, who is playing her first year, said "The league is full of a bunch of good guys–they don't treat me differently."

Andy Devine, 91, who has played for 16 years, said he's been playing all his life. Devine also played for a year in Major League Baseball before leaving to serve the war in 1942.

Cleo Standard, 82, who has been playing for 8 years, said it's exercise, fun and especially when you win.

Winchell Smith, 97, who has played 18 years, said "If I sit down in a rocking chair, I'll be gone."

Jim Staggers, 79, who has been playing for 5 years, said "I like the fact that we are old and that we're still enjoying our passion." Staggers originally heard about Kids and Kubs when he was in his 20s and I had hoped he could play in his 70s.

Hal Olver, 84, who has been playing for 11 years, said "It's not whether you win or lose, just being able to mess around and hit the bat."
